Stressed? You have One of the Most Stressful Jobs in the Nation

Posted By Administration, Tuesday, February 27, 2018

The staffing experts at Robert Half says your job is the second most stressful in the country. Along with the analytics company Happiness Works, Robert Half did a study of 12,000 U.S. and Canadian workers and concluded that — as an industry — insurance has the second highest work stress level. Technology pros have the least.

Here’s the list of the most stressful jobs by profession:

Highest

1. Legal

2. Insurance

3. Healthcare and wellness

4. Hospitality and food services

Middle

5. Financial services

6. Education and training

7. Administrative

8. Manufacturing

9. Accounting

Lowest

10. Human resources

11.  Marketing or creative

12.  Finance

13. Technology

Breaking it down by specific jobs here are the most stressful jobs by role:

Highest

1. Semi-skilled labor & agricultural

2. Skilled trades and crafts

3. Personal or care services

Mid-level

4. Staff level professionals

5. Managers

6. Sales or customer service workers

Lowest

7. Administrative and secretarial clerks

8. Senior executives

The survey made these determinations based on workplace culture, leadership, workload demands and a bunch of other factors.

That leads to the question of what workers want on the job. Aside from salary there are three factors that employees look for when negotiating for a job. Robert Half says the largest number of people it surveyed picked vacation time and time off as the number-one thing they look for in a job after salary.

Second most important is corporate culture and the third most important is career advancement.

Here are the numbers:
